MLS: Wins for Los Angeles Galaxy and New York Red Bulls

Kortne Ford scored the only goal of the game as Colorado Rapids pulled off a shock 1-0 win against Sporting Kansas City.

Sporting lead the Western Conference and were facing the team with the worst record in the MLS this season.

But Ford's first MLS goal gave the Rapids a ninth-minute lead and Sporting's push for an equaliser came up short, with Seth Sinovic hitting the crossbar in stoppage time before City midfielder Roger Espinoza was sent off for a second booking.

Giovani dos Santos scored twice as Los Angeles Galaxy won 4-2 at San Jose Earthquakes.

Chris Wondolowski's opener for the hosts was cancelled out by Joao Pedro before Giovani's free-kick put Los Angeles ahead in the 35th minute.

Danny Hoesen equalised soon after but an own goal from Victor Bernardez was followed by Giovani's second.
