Bradley Wright-Phillips has signed a Designated Player contract with the New York Red Bulls.
The former Southampton, Plymouth and Charlton striker enjoyed a sensational 2014 season when he scored 31 goals in all competitions and won the league's Golden Boot award.
He broke the single-season New York franchise scoring record and tied the all-time single-season scoring record in MLS with his 27 league goals.
Wright-Phillips' 2014 campaign also earned him multiple awards and accolades - he was voted the team's MVP, was named to the MLS Best XI team and won the Castrol Index Top Player Award.
"Following his outstanding performances in 2014, which produced 31 goals in all competitions, the club has decided to make Bradley Wright-Phillips a MLS Designated Player," said New York Red Bulls sporting director Andy Roxburgh.
"Bradley is not only a prolific goalscorer, he is an excellent professional and a great team player who will be a big asset to the club in the coming seasons."
His Designated Player contract comes only days after Thierry Henry, who had a similar deal last season, announced he would be leaving the Red Bulls. Australia midfielder Tim Cahill also had a Designated Player deal with the franchise in 2014.
