Vancouver Whitecaps beat Colorado Rapids 2-0 to end their three-game winning run while Sporting Kansas and Portland Timbers played out a 0-0 draw

Vancouver Whitecaps beat the Colorado Rapids 2-0 to go top of the MLS Western Conference.

It took until the 73rd minute for the hosts to make the breakthrough and it was Rivero heading home Techera's lofted pass to score his 10th goal of the season.

Just minutes later it was Techera's turn to get on the scoresheet as he fired a shot past a helpless Clint Irwin to seal all three points.

With the victory, Vancouver moved two points clear of LA Galaxy, who host Montreal Impact on Saturday, at the top of the MLS standings.
