Mexico keeper warns of tough opposition

Mexico goalkeeper Oscar Perez has warned his side they must play to their best if they are to beat France in their next World Cup match. The Mexicans drew 1-1 with hosts South Africa in the opening game of the tournament on Friday, with Rafael Marquez cancelling out Siphiwe Tshabalala's stunning strike. Les Bleus' goalless draw with Uruguay in Cape Town means there is all to play for in Group A, with all four sides locked on a point each. Although Mexico were tipped to take three points from Bafana Bafana, Perez revealed he was happy to escape with a point after the hosts gradually grew into the game as it wore on despite a nervy opening period. "All things considered, the result against South Africa was good for us," he said. "We would have liked to have taken three points but it was not to be. "We are not fully satisfied but we must look forward to our next game."

Uncomfortable rival

The 37-year-old veteran, who was first choice at the 2002 finals but lost his place afterwards, was quick to point out how dangerous a wounded French side could be after an unconvincing start to their tournament. However Perez highlighted the importance of not being fazed by their opponents, who won the tournament as hosts in 1998 and finished runners-up in 2006, and that they must win both of their remaining group games, with the Uruguayans last to come. "France are an uncomfortable rival," Perez added. "They have experience. I don't think they will run like South Africa did but we must be prepared. "France have players with a lot of quality that can change a game. "We have two games left to play in the group stage and we must win them both."
