Holland manager Bert van Marwijk was left frustrated with his side's performance in the 2-1 victory over Cameroon as they once again failed to hit top gear. The Dutch ensured they finished in pole position in Group E and will therefore meet Slovakia in the last 16 as Robin van Persie and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar scored either side of a Samuel Eto'o penalty. Van Marwijk's team finished the group stages with an unblemished record after earlier wins over Denmark and Japan, but they have been criticised for a lack of style compared to that of the Oranje's famous Total Football of previous years. Doubters have offered their opinion on the approach of Van Marwijk, however, he has always maintained that the result is the priority after a run of 22 matches without defeat, which is currently the longest unbeaten sequence in international football. Van Marwijk, though, was unimpressed with his players after they failed to dominate a Cameroon side who had already been eliminated from the World Cup prior to kick-off in Cape Town.

Average

He said: "Let me say that today I wasn't 100 per cent satisfied. I was with the fact that we won but the second half was very average. "In the previous two games we controlled the game more. Only after the (score was) 1-1 did we start to play and you could see we can play and didn't give it away." Van Persie's goal was a characteristically skilful conversion after a neat give-and-go with Rafael van der Vaart, who later handled in the penalty area to gift Cameroon their penalty. The Arsenal striker was delighted to score his first goal of the 2010 World Cup after his domestic season was severely disrupted by injury. He said: "It is always good to score. In the previous two games I didn't reach my level. "Today I did. I played well, that is what I am most satisfied about."
