On Soccer AM...

Image: Wise: Chelsea legend

Dennis Wise, Paddy McGuinness, Amy Macdonald. and Kevin Mitchell are all on this week's show!

It's the climax of the football season, so what better way to prepare for what should be a Super Sunday with another jam-packed Soccer AM! First down the tunnel and into the studio will be Chelsea and Wimbledon legend Dennis Wise! The midfield dynamo's combative style made him a fans favourite wherever he went in a playing career which spanned over 20 years. As well as making close to 600 appearances at club level, Wise was capped 21 times by England between 1999-2000. A member of Wimbledon's 'Crazy Gang', he was part of the team that shocked the nation by defeating Liverpool 1-0 at Wembley in the 1988 FA Cup final, claiming his first piece of silverware in the process. It proved to be just the beginning for the former Southampton trainee, as his trophy cabinet soon began filling up following a move to Chelsea. The 43-year-old left Stamford Bridge in 1999 with a further two FA Cup winners medals, a League Cup medal, a UEFA Cup Winners' Cup medal and a UEFA Super Cup medal. Following his departure from Chelsea, Wise joined Leicester, before getting his first taste of management at Millwall, where he led the club to the 2004 FA Cup final as player-manager. Having taken to his new role like a duck to water, Wise surprisingly left the New Den in 2005 citing a disagreement with the club's chairman, before going on to take charge of Southampton, Swindon and Leeds. His last role in football came at Newcastle where he was appointed director of football in 2008, and he will be reflecting on his time on Tyneside as well as a fine career with Helen and Max.

Comedian

Taking a seat next to him on the orange sofa will be one of the funniest men in the country, Paddy McGuinness! The stand-up comedian and actor first caught our attention in Peter Kay's hilarious comedy Phoenix Nights. The success of the show made both Kay and McGuinness household names and spawned the equally successful spin-off series; Max and Paddy's Road to Nowhere. As well as acting and stand-up, the Bolton fan can regularly be seen presenting various shows and is currently the host of the hilarious dating program, Take Me Out. He'll be telling us about that and any new projects, while no doubt cracking a few jokes along the way too!
Songwriter
Our musical guest this week is the hugely talented Scottish singer songwriter, Amy Macdonald. The 22-year-old began playing guitar at the age of 15 after being inspired by a Travis performance and hasn't looked back since. With two studio albums to her name already, and a host of awards the future certainly looks bright for the young star, whose popularity is not confined to the borders of the UK. Her single, This Is The Life reached number one in no less than five other European countries, emphasising her global appeal. Engaged to Scottish footballer Steve Lovell, Macdonald released her second full length in March, and she will be telling us all about it.
Punch
Completing another knockout line-up will be Kevin Mitchell, a man who really packs a punch! The Essex based star is regarded as one of best prospects in British boxing, and with an undefeated record from 31 bouts, it's easy to understand why. A West Ham fan, Mitchell is set to take on Australian interim WBO Lightweight World Champion Michael Katsidis on May 15 at the home of his beloved Hammers, Upton Park. The fight, billed us 'Hammer Time' is arguably the biggest of the 25-year-old's career and he will be revealing how his training has been going, as well as giving us his big fight prediction. That completes a bumper Soccer AM line-up, but as usual we'll have all your favourites too, including, Skill Skool with Aldershot, I-Iron Soldier, Showboat, Taxi, Tubes' Question, and Crossbar Challenge with Stevenage! Plus, we've got more pictures of footballers taking pictures, Chelsea star Frank Lampard tells us why he loves football and finally we go behind the scenes of a new World Cup ad starring our very own Rocket and Tubes! So tune in to watch all the gang, plus our Newcastle fans of the week and another stunning Soccerette, 9am, Saturday on Sky Sports 1 and Sky1
