On Soccer AM...

Image: Onuoha: Man City star

Nedum Onuoha, David Essex, Keane frontman Tom Chaplin and rapper K'Naan are all on this week's show!

It's the penultimate show of the season and Soccer AM will be going out with a bang! First down the tunnel will be a Premier League star who has been with us all season - albeit in the shape of a cardboard cut-out! Many a Soccerette has got to sit on the 'Lap of Onuoha' this year, but for the first time this season Nedum Onuoha will be taking his place on the orange sofas. The 23-year-old has enjoyed a season of highs and lows with Manchester City, but was ultimately disappointed as the Eastlands club narrowly missed out on Champions League qualification. A product of City's youth academy, Onuoha has been capped 21 times for England's U21's, but could yet represent Nigeria at full international level. The city defender was born in the West African country before moving to the UK at the age of seven, and last month he admitted he was considering switching allegiances. However, despite being urged by former Nigeria stars such as Jay-Jay Okocha, he turned down the chance to represent the Super Eagles at this summer's World Cup to pursue his dream of playing for England. No doubt one of the toughest decisions of his career, he'll be telling us how he came to it, and will also be reflecting on City's season.

Collaboration

Helping us make a seamless transition from football to music this week will be Keane frontman Tom Chaplin and rapper K'Naan! Tom has described K'Naan (pictured above) as "Eminem with a heart" so it's easy to see why the British band were so keen (no pun intended) to form an unlikely collaboration with the Somali-born rapper on their latest single, Stop For A Minute. Now a resident in Canada, K'Naan fled Somalia in 1991 as the country plunged into civil war, however his music is still heavily influenced by the country of his birth. Having won the several Juno Awards, including Artist of the Year and Songwriter of the Year for 2010, K'Naan's star is definitely on the rise. The 31-year-old has also collaborated with the Keane boys on the track Looking Back, and both will feature on the band's new eight-song EP; Night Train, which went straight in at number one in the mid-week charts.
Legend
Completing another stellar line-up of guests will be a true legend, David Essex! The singer and actor first found fame as the lead in musical Godspell, before appearing in the 1973 film That'll Be The Day, alongside former Beatle Ringo Starr. But it was as a pop star that he really rose to fame, with hits including Gonna Make You A Star, Hold Me Close and of course Rock On, which John Lennon said was in his top three songs of all time! Almost forty years on and the West Ham fan is still going strong. His West End musical All the Fun of the Fair is currently playing at the Garrick Theatre and he'll be telling us all about it.

That wraps up this week's guests, but as ever we've got all your favourites too including, Crossbar Challenge with Portsmouth, the final I-Iron Soldier of the season, Skill Skool with Morecambe and Team Mates with Liverpool and Brazil midfielder Lucas!
