Roger Johnson has joined Charlton on a short-term contract following his departure from Wolves.
The former Wolves captain has not played for the club since Kenny Jackett's appointment as manager in the summer of 2013, and an agreement was reached this week to terminate his contract.
Johnson has signed a until the summer, and Charlton are getting a 31-year-old who played in last season's Premier League during a loan spell at West Ham.
"I'm an old-fashioned centre-half," he told the club website. "I like a tackle, I like to head the ball and then give to people who can play.
"I'll be organising, making sure we don’t concede and then hopefully the forward players can do their job. Hopefully we can tighten things up and I’m looking forward to being involved.
"I'm not looking to walk straight into the team, that is the manager’s decision, but I’ll be training as hard as possible to get myself as fit as possible and stand a good chance."
Johnson's arrival is the sixth at The Valley since the turn of the year following the permanent signings of Neil Etheridge, Marko Dmitrovic, Tony Watt and Christophe Lepoint and a loan deal for Tottenham's Milos Veljkovic.
