Palermo have held talks with Wolfsburg and two other clubs over a proposed bid to sign striker Edinson Cavani.
The Uruguayan, currently on international duty at the World Cup, was instrumental in the Rosanero's impressive Serie A campaign last season, in which they finished fifth.
On the back of his exploits, the prolific 23-year-old now looks certain to leave Palermo with Steve McClaren's Wolfsburg side heading the queue to land his signature.
"Edinson Cavani will leave because it is right that he goes and because his aspiration is to make a quantum leap," said Palermo sporting director Walter Sabatini.
"There is a deal with Wolfsburg and two other clubs but there is still no agreement with anyone."
The Bundesliga outfit are keen to rebuild after disappointing eighth place finish last season, but the club admit a deal for Cavani is not yet in the bag with the summer transfer window held up by events in South Africa.
Wolfsburg consultant Vlado Borozan told Palermo's
official website: "Cavani to Wolfsburg? It is not easy, it is still early to talk about concrete things because the market is still stalled."
