Striker move to Nurnberg on free transfer

FC Nurnberg have completed the capture of Austria international striker Rubin Okotie on a free transfer. The striker, who turns 23 on 6th June, has signed a three-year deal with the Bundesliga outfit after three seasons with Austrian top-flight side FK Austria Vienna. His move comes after talks over an extension to his expiring deal at Vienna finally collapsed earlier this month. Looking forward to the challenge ahead, Okotie, who had also been linked with Hannover 96, told Deutsche Presseagentur: "We, over here in Austria, are keen followers of the action in the German Bundesliga.

Interesting fact

"For me it appeared always as an interesting fact that a club like FC Nurnberg attempted to play successfully with young players in their line-up. "Therefore I think it is the best decision for me, I am going to make the next step in my career." The striker missed much of the 2009/2010 campaign due to a cartilage injury which he sustained in Europa League action last autumn.
