United midfielder delighted to be staying at Old Trafford
Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick has become the latest player to pledge his future to the club by signing a new contract until 2014.
Club stalwart Ryan Giggs and full-back Patrice Evra have recently signed extensions at Old Trafford and Carrick has now followed suit.
The England international has scored 17 goals in 218 appearances for United since his 2006 transfer from Tottenham Hotspur and is a three-time Premier League winner.
Though he has occasionally been linked with moves away from the leaders, he is delighted to be staying with the Red Devils.
Confident
"I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at this great club," Carrick told the club's
official website.
"There is fantastic team spirit within the squad and I'm pleased to have committed my future to United.
"We are in a very good position at the moment and I am confident this team will be successful for many years to come."
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson added: "I am delighted Michael has signed a new contract.
"He has been outstanding since joining us from Tottenham Hotspur in 2006, he is a true professional and it's great he has committed his future to the club."
