Donnelly keen on league return
Skysports.com understands a number of league clubs are tracking former Blackburn Rovers youngster Ciaran Donnelly.
Donnelly was tipped for great things as a youngster coming through the youth ranks at Ewood Park and represented England through to Under 19 level.
The attacking midfielder once scored all four goals from midfield in a single game against Romania in the Under 19 European Championship in 2003.
Donnelly had a successful loan spell at Blackpool under Steve McMahon in 2005 and was later signed on a two-year contract.
He was released by former manager Simon Grayson in 2007 and after falling into part-time football decided to quit the game.
26-year-old Donnelly is currently training with Conference side Barrow and has looked impressive in their pre-season friendlies, including the 5-0 win on Tuesday against League Two side Morecambe, scoring one of the goals from midfield.
Tranmere are believed to be keeping tabs on Donnelly's progress and it is also thought that a number of League Two clubs are also monitoring the player's situation.
