Floundering Spanish side appoint Oltra's successor
Primera Liga strugglers Almeria have appointed Roberto Olabe as coach until the end of the season.
Olabe succeeds Jose Luis Oltra at the helm of the Spanish side after he was sacked on Tuesday.
Almeria are rock-bottom of the standings with eight games remaining and are desperate to avoid relegation this season.
The Andalusians, who travel to La Liga leaders Barcelona on Saturday, lost 3-1 at home to Athletic Bilbao earlier this week.
Olabe, a former goalkeeper with Real Sociedad, was sporting director at Almeria during the 2006-07 season, helping them to top-flight promotion.
The club said in a statement on their
official website: "Olabe is a hard-working and methodical coach who knows the club and the team perfectly."
Former boss Oltra was appointed at the end of November to replace the sacked Juan Manuel Lillo.
He led the club to the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey, marking their best-ever showing in the tournament.
