Lotito - No Nedved talks

Lazio president Claudio Lotito insists he has not tried to persuade Pavel Nedved to return to the club.

Former star linked with return despite plans for retirement

Lazio president Claudio Lotito insists he has not tried to persuade Pavel Nedved to return to the club. Nedved had been expected to head into retirement after confirming he had played his final game for Juventus at the end of the last Serie A season. However, his agent Mino Raiola recently revealed he would try to talk the veteran Czech Republic schemer into playing on for another campaign. He was linked with a move back to Lazio, where he spent five years before moving to Serie A rivals Juventus in 2001. The speculation regarding a return to the Stadio Olimpico has reportedly prompted Nedved into considering delaying his retirement from the game. But Lotito says he has not spoken to the midfielder, who turns 37 in August, and is only aware of the rumours through the media. "As for Nedved, we are always aware of players who have made history with Lazio, but I have not spoken to him," said Lotito. "I have only read the newspapers."
