Italian giants keen to reach agreement with Reds over midfielder

Juventus have reiterated their desire to keep Alberto Aquilani on a permanent deal, and are hopeful of reaching an agreement with Liverpool in the near future. The midfielder struggled to make an impact on Merseyside after joining from Roma in summer 2009 and has spent the current season on loan at Juve. Since leaving Anfield and heading for Turin, Aquilani has managed to steer clear of injury and rediscover his form at the Delle Alpi. The Serie A club have the option to purchase the 26-year-old Italy international at the end of the season and general manager Giuseppe Marotta remains confident a deal will be agreed. "We have a good rapport with Liverpool and we think we can reach an understanding," Marotta said in Gazzetta dello Sport. "Alberto has proved to be an important player and we knew him already from his time at Roma. "We have an option to buy his contract which is quite high for us, but we will soon try to find a solution with Liverpool." Aquilani has notched up 29 league appearances for Juventus this season, scoring two goals.
