Chilean midfielder pens five-year contract in Turin

Juventus have completed the signing of sought-after midfielder Arturo Vidal from Bayer Leverkusen on a five-year deal. The Chile international has put pen to paper on a contract in Turin, thought to be worth around €10.5million, after passing a medical at the Serie A side. Vidal, who joined Leverkusen from native club Colo-Colo in 2007, reportedly attracted attention from several top European clubs this summer, including Bayern Munich, Roma and Napoli. But the 24-year-old says choosing Juve was a no-brainer.

No doubts

"I am here to help Juve get back where they belong," Vidal told Football Italia. "Many teams wanted me, but I had no doubts as soon as Juve called. I want the fans to know I am a warrior, which is what many people use as my nickname. "I'll give my all to make coach Antonio Conte happy. I'm so fired up and ready for anything." Vidal, the first Chilean to wear the Bianconeri jersey since Marcelo Salas 10 years ago, is looking forward to playing alongside experienced players such as Andrea Pirlo at Juve. "Pirlo is world class and it is marvellous that I'll be able to play alongside him," he added. "In Chile everyone knows Juventus for their players like Gigi Buffon, Andrea Pirlo and Alessandro Del Piero. They also fondly recall Salas in the Bianconeri shirt."
