Newly promoted Cesena chase Danish defender from Genoa

Cesena are seeking a deal to bring in former Denmark Under-21 international defender Magnus Troest from Serie A rivals Genoa. The versatile defender who played on-loan for Spanish outfit Recreativo Huelva last season is reportedly eyeing a move to the Seahorses to reignite his career after the 23-year-old struggled to secure a place in the side at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris. The centre-back who spent two-seasons at Aston Villa as a youth team player back in 2003, has also had spells with Midtjylland and Parma before making just seven appearances in the second divison for Recreativo last season. Troest's agent Mads Bach Lund confirmed to Onside.dk: "I am aware that the two clubs have been in touch." Genoa confirmed that Troest was not a part of the club's future plans and are reportedly seeking in the region of 1.5million pounds for the rangy defender. Cesena clinched promotion back to the top flight on the last day of the season, ending a long 19-year absence from Serie A after finishing as runners-up in Serie B.
