Serie A club severs ties with head coach
Genoa have parted company with head coach Davide Ballardini after just seven months in charge.
Ballardini took the helm last November after Gian Piero Gasperini was dismissed and he steered to the club to a tenth-placed finish in Serie A.
He was given a contract until the summer of 2012 but has now been released a year early following talks with Genoa president Enrico Preziosi.
"Instead of having another year of contract, from today Ballardini is free," Preziosi said on
Radio Radio.
"I spoke to him by telephone and thanked him for the work he did and the calmness he showed.
"But I won't divulge the reason for our separation, I don't think it would be right to do so."
