New boss takes charge at Stadio Luigi Ferraris

Pasquale Marino has been officially installed as Genoa's new boss, replacing the ousted Alberto Malesani. He takes the post with his new employers sat 10th in the Serie A standings. A top-half standing would be good enough for many, but the club have struggled for consistency since making a bright start to the season. Malesani paid the price for those failings, with a 6-1 humbling at the hands of Napoli proving to be the final straw. Marino will be expected to guide Genoa back into the battle for European qualification, but he insists he will be setting himself no targets.

Important

"I am delighted to be at a very important club," he told the club's official website. "I don't want to state any clear aims and none have been put to me. "It is better to see how things go one game at a time. "The team is good and now is the time to start working hard and play in a certain way. Next month we will get a few injured players back and that will help. "What is our aim? To give our best."
