Genoa president admits striker was keen to move on
Rodrigo Palacio is closing on a belated move to Inter Milan after Genoa accepted an offer for the Argentine striker.
The 30-year-old has been a long-term target for Inter, but Genoa turned down all bids for Palacio last summer.
However, Genoa president Enrico Preziosi has now agreed to let Palacio move on amid reports a fee of €11million (£8.8m) has been agreed.
"Palacio was one of the players that asked us at the end of the season to be transferred," Preziosi said to
Sky Italia. "We have already reached an agreement with Inter.
"Inter tried to acquire him in the past two years.
"There is an agreement and also a handshake. We could also discuss a possible swap deal, we'll just have to wait and see.
"This deal has been a good transaction for both clubs as well as for the player, whose wages have doubled."
The South American, who scored 19 goals in 32 league games this season, is under contract with the Grifoni for a further two years.
