Cologne have confirmed their interest in Karlsruhe forward Sebastian Freis. The 23-year-old's contract is set to expire at the end of the season and Cologne have now confirmed their interest. General manager Michael Meier admits the club are keen on Freis. "Of course, Sebastian Freis is of interest for us," said Meier. However the player wants to make a decision on his Karlsruhe future before commenting on Cologne's interest. "We are going to respect that, especially with the match against Karlsruhe coming up now. "We do not intend to cause any unrest in that respect."

Meanwhile, there is major interest in Cologne striker Milivoje Novakovic, with Shakhhtar Donetsk having been linked with the Slovenian. 29-year-old Novakovic told Cologne's Express he wants to stay with the club. "I would like to play on at Cologne and finish my career at this club," he said "I do not want to move on, I would love to see the club offer me a deal until 2013. But it is the club who has to show how much I am wanted here."
