Hart slams defensive errors

QPR manager Paul Hart has slammed his side's defending after losing out to Sheffield United in the FA Cup.

Blackwell hails impact of Ward

QPR boss Paul Hart blasted his side's defensive efforts after Rangers fell to a 3-2 FA Cup third round replay defeat at the hands of Sheffield United. Hart's side were trailing by a single goal when a quick-fire double from the Blades seemingly put the contest beyond doubt. Although the hosts fought back to within a goal, Hart was left ruing the lapses at the back that denied them a chance to progress. "The way we started the second half was a disaster," the former Portsmouth boss said. "We've gone 15 games without a clean sheet and you can see why. That is a side of our game that has to improve. "It was a very spirited comeback but it was too little, too late." Rangers have now not won an FA Cup tie since 2001 and the fans at Loftus Road did not hide their displeasure at the latest failing in the competition.

Displeasure

A chorus of boos greeted Hart's first substitution and the QPR boss refused to be drawn on the issue after the match. He added: "I've not asked anyone if they are booing me or the team. "Ideally you'd send everyone away happy after a good performance. But people are entitled to their opinions." United boss Kevin Blackwell's substitutions will definitely not be given the same treatment as Jamie Ward came off the bench to inspire victory. The Northern Irish striker, who is after a new contract at Bramall Lane, scored United's second then created a third for Richard Cresswell shortly afterwards. Blackwell was full of praise for the 23-year-old and was glad his side were not made to rue missed chances in the first half. "Good first touch, wasn't it?" he said of Ward's immediate goalscoring impact. "We should have been two or three up by half-time so I'm glad we didn't have to rue those missed chances."
