Shaun Wright-Phillips pinpointed Carlos Tevez's work-rate as a key reason for Manchester City's 2-1 Carling Cup win over Manchester United.
The former Red Devil came back to haunt his old club with the Argentine grabbing both goals in the semi-final first leg at Eastlands as City fought back after Ryan Giggs had opened the scoring for the visitors.
The brace made it 17 for the season for Tevez while the win put Roberto Mancini's men in sight of the final.
Although delighted with the win, Wright-Phillips was quick to highlight the job was only half done and that the travelling City fans would have to play their part again at Old Trafford next Wednesday.
"Carlos Tevez was fantastic again for us, he has been unbelievable all season," he told the club's
official website.
Energy
"His energy is superb but everyone played their part in what was a memorable win and that's a few we have had over United in recent seasons.
"We know that the job is only half done but we know that we will get all the backing we need next week.
"If there are only a thousand of our fans there they will make themselves heard so goodness knows what it will be like with 10,000.
"But we have to make sure we give them something to sing and shout about."
Meanwhile, team-mate and fellow countryman Pablo Zabaleta believes Tevez can fire City to the top of the Premier League as well as help them complete the job at the Theatre of Dreams in seven days' time.
"Carlos was fired up because of what was said. United fans know he was a big loss because he was a great player for them," he highlighted.
Repeat performance
"He can repeat this in the second game.
"Every team wants Carlos Tevez, and we have a great opportunity to enjoy him at this club. I am sure that Carlos will try to take Manchester City right to the top."
Zabaleta also feels the team have the character to go and get a result in the second leg to take them into their first final since 1981.
"We know it will be difficult at United, but we have a chance," he added.
"Old Trafford is a great stadium, and there will be a lot of pressure on us, but we have players with strong character."
