On Soccer AM...

Ken Monkou, comedian Dom Joly and rapper Maverick Sabre are on this week's show!

It's the climax of the football season, so what better way to prepare for another weekend of twist and turns than with another jam-packed Soccer AM! First up on the orange sofas this week will be former Chelsea and Southampton star Ken Monkou! Born in Suriname, Monkou was raised in the Netherlands and began his professional career with Dutch outfit Feyenoord. In 1989, after a three-year spell in Rotterdam, the former defender was snapped up by Chelsea, with the West Londoners having just gained promotion to the top-flight after a season in the Second Division. The £100,000 transfer fee would prove to be a snip, with the imposing centre-back settling into life at Stamford Bridge immediately. His impressive start for his new side saw him voted club player of the year in his first season, as Chelsea finished fifth in League and won the Full Members Cup. After three years in London, Monkou opted for a move to the South Coast to join Southampton in a deal worth £750,000. He successfully helped fight several relegation battles in his seven seasons at club - making over 200 appearances, before bringing down the curtain on his career at the turn of the century following a season with Huddersfield. Stepping into the studio for the first time since 2002, we'll finding out what he's been up to since we last spoke to him, and we'll also be getting his views on a great week for two of his former clubs.

Trigger happy

Joining Monkou on the orange sofas will be comedian, journalist and all-round funny guy, Dom Joly! A man who needs little introduction, Joly made his name on the brilliant Trigger Happy TV just over ten years ago. The sole star of the hidden camera comedy, he co-produced and directed the Channel 4 series, which would eventually be sold to over 70 countries worldwide! The 43-year-old's hugely impressive CV also includes the spoof travel show 'Dom Joly's Happy Hour' and 'World Shut Your Mouth', as well as a number of awards for travel writing. An accomplished journalist, Joly has and continues to write for many national newspapers, while last month he added another string to his bow by embarking on his first ever stand-up tour! So expect a few fireworks, lots of stories, and even more laughter when he enters the studio on Saturday!

Musical flavour

Completing this week's line-up and adding a musical flavour to proceedings will be Maverick Sabre! The Hackney-born rapper's tracks have featured a number of times on our goal wraps this season, but he will be making his official debut this Saturday. It's been a busy five months for the 20-year-old; having appeared on Professor Green's single 'Jungle' in January, he released his debut EP, The Lost Words in March, while just last month he took to the stage with a live band on BBC2's Later... with Jools Holland. Despite being born in East London, the 19-year-old moved to Ireland during his childhood and has gone on record to emphasise the importance of different genres to his music - from hip-hop and reggae to folk. An accomplished guitar player, Sabre picked up an axe for the first time at the age of eight, after hearing Ben E. King's 'Stand By Me' and cites So Solid Crew, Tupac, Bob Marley and Bob Dylan as some of his influences. His new single 'Where We Gonna Go' is out next month and he will be telling Helen and Max about that and revealing whether his football allegiances lie with England or Ireland! That completes another star studded line-up of guests, but as ever we've got all your favourites too including, Showboat, Unbelievable Tekkers, Kenneth the Groundsman, News with Pat, Nottingham Forest's Crossbar Challenge and Skill Skool! Plus, this week's Best Seat in the House takes us to Stamford Bridge, Manchester United legend Bryan Robson tell us why he loves football, and Kammy takes on gymnast and Olympic Bronze medallist Louis Smith in Kammy Do It! So set your alarms for Soccer AM, Saturday, 10am, on Sky Sports 2 & Sky 1!
