Head coach calls for focus amid rumours of unrest
Carlos Queiroz has called for focus from his Portugal side amid rumours of a dispute with injured winger Nani.
The Portuguese kick-off their World Cup campaign on Tuesday versus Ivory Coast in Group G.
Queiroz's squad flew into Port Elizabeth from Johannesburg on Monday but without Manchester United star Nani, who remains in Lisbon.
Nani is said to be nursing a shoulder problem but quotes from the playmaker suggesting he could be fit within seven days have sparked rumours that his departure from South Africa was for reasons other than his fitness.
The Portuguese Football Federation has already moved to dismiss the speculation and head coach Queiroz has refused to add to the debate.
He said: "Tomorrow, we are going to be playing the Ivory Coast in our first game in the World Cup.
"If Nani is ready in four days, that's wonderful, but the most important thing is for us to focus on our goal tomorrow.
"So, with all due respect to Nani, that is what we are focusing on.
"We can talk about that [the Nani situation] later."
