Striker recovering after having part of his colon removed

Adam Stansfield is on the road to recovery after the Exeter City striker had successful surgery to remove part of his colon. The 31-year-old was recently diagnosed with bowel cancer, but, after having surgery last week, is now in better health. "The operation was a success," vice-chairman Julian Tagg said. "Stanno was up when we visited and looking happy but tired. He was even cracking a few jokes. "He is extremely grateful to all the well-wishers over the last few weeks. "He is also very thankful that he is now being allowed to rest and recuperate so he can return to action as soon as possible."
