League Two round-up

Image: Taylor: First Bradford win

Bradford shocked league leaders Rochdale and Bournemouth closed the gap as Bury dropped points.

Dale slip up to Bradford, Grimsby's winless run continues

Peter Taylor recorded his first win as Bradford manager by stunning title chasing Rochdale with a 3-1 triumph at Spotland. The league leaders fell behind in the 10th minute to give Taylor's side a dream start, Matthew Clarke breaking the deadlock to earn a shock lead. But the hosts equalised when Chris O'Grady burst to the byline and his cross allowed strike partner Chris Dagnall to level, however Robbie Threlfall fired home a free-kick and Gareth Evans popped up to send the points back to West Yorkshire. Bury could have gone within three points of Keith Hill's side had they won, but they were held to a 0-0 draw by Barnet at Gigg Lane. Bournemouth did take advantage of Rochdale dropping points, scoring three in the second half to see off Barnet 3-0 at the Fitness First Stadium. Steve Fletcher scored a 59th minute goal to set the Cherries up for the win, as Brett Pitman notched a brace to make the points safe. Port Vale found themselves two goals up in the space of three minutes in their clash with Lincoln City at Vale Park, recording a 4-0 victory. City made a disastrous start when Ian Pearce put through his own net in the first minute, with Robert Taylor doubling the lead and effectively ending the match two minutes after. Vale then added a third after quarter of an hour, Craig Davies notching his third goal of the season to end Lincoln's night before it had even begun. Defender John McCombe added a fourth to complete the rout.

Incredible

Dagenham & Redbridge came from two goals down to pick up an incredible 3-2 win over Aldershot at the Recreation Ground. Paul Benson struck twice for the Daggers in the space of six minutes to level the scores after Kirk Hudson and Scott Donnelly had put the Shots into a 2-0 goal lead. And John Still's men snatched a late winner as Joshua Scott scored in the 85th minute to claim an unlikely victory. Northampton climbed into play-off contention with a 2-0 win, coming away with all three points from their tie with Hereford. Billy McKay's early strike helped tame the Bulls, as Town bounced back from two consecutive defeats to keep their promotion hopes intact with Adebayo Akinfenwa hitting the second. Down at the bottom, Cheltenham and Torquay shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw at Whaddon Road. Veteran striker Barry Hayles put his side ahead, but substitute Mustapha Carayol come off the bench to snatch a last-minute equaliser. Grimsby's run without a win continued as they drew 1-1 with Macclesfield, despite Hull City loanee Jamie Devitt bagging his second goal in three matches. Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro - on as an early substitute for the injured Michael Leary - crossed for the 19-year-old midfielder to give the Mariners hope of ending their 24-game winless run. But Richard Butcher ensured the barren spell continued, the on-loan Lincoln man levelling on 58 minutes with a free-kick. Neil Wood's men finished with 10 men as Neil Jarman received a late dismissal for serious foul play. Darlington's clash with Notts County fell foul of the weather, as did Burton's visit to Accrington.
