Jamie Vincent has joined Aldershot after being given special dispensation to leave Walsall for family reasons.
The 35-year-old only recently signed a new deal with the Saddlers but he has now requested a move so he could be closer to his family.
He told the club's
official website: "It was a very hard decision to make.
"Being away from my family for the majority of the week was difficult last season and, the more we have spoken about it as a family, the more I have realised that I just couldn't do that again.
"I had agreed a deal at Walsall and I'd like to thank the manager and the chairman for their understanding. They have been superb.
"This isn't a football decision. I've loved my time at Walsall and, if I was single or lived closer, I'd never have even contemplated moving on.
"Family has to come first though and I don't want my family life to suffer."
Delighted
Vincent added on Aldershot's official website: "Aldershot had expressed an interest and I am delighted to have signed for the club.
"I have enjoyed every moment at every club I have played for and I am looking forward to meeting the squad next week."
Aldershot manager Kevin Dillon said: "He is at an age now where his experience will be important and the vital factor is that he has always looked after himself. He flew through the medical."
