Lecce boss determined to pull clear of trouble
Luigi De Canio is confident Lecce can pick up the points they need to avoid relegation from Serie A.
Lecce were tipped to struggle from the start of the season after earning promotion last term, and that prediction has so far proved accurate.
They are currently in the drop zone after losing three games in a row, but remain just a point from safety and De Canio is staying upbeat.
"We knew this would be our season, but we are tied to the relegation battle and we know we have a chance to win the points we need," he said.
De Canio, who has been in charge at Lecce for almost two years, believes there were plenty of positives to take from a 1-0 defeat to Inter Milan on Sunday.
He said: "We played the game we had prepared and it was clear we would run risks, but we could have even drawn in certain circumstances."
