Lazio miss crucial chance while Cesena, Chievo and Genoa all win and Fiorentina and Lecce are held in Serie A.
Napoli stunned; Lazio strengthen grip on fourth, Cesena out of drop zone
Napoli failed a big test of their Serie A title credentials as they lost at home to Udinese to pave the way for AC Milan to clinch the Scudetto.
In the day's other games, Lazio, Cesena, Chievo and Genoa all won, while Fiorentina and Lecce were held.
Napoli needed to win at the Stadio San Paolo against
Udinese to make it a two-horse race for the title after Inter Milan slipped up on Saturday, but they instead remained six points adrift of the league leaders with five games remaining.
Udinese won thanks to goals from Gokhan Inler and German Denis, boosting their own chances of qualifying for the Champions League next season by reducing the arrears on fourth-placed Lazio to just one point.
Edinson Cavani had a penalty saved in the dying stages of the match after Maurizio Domizzi was sent off for Udinese, before Giuseppe Mascara scored a consolation deep into stoppage time.
Lazio strengthened their grip on fourth place in Serie A - and the last UEFA Champions League qualifying spot - with a convincing 4-1 victory at
Catania.
Hernanes put Lazio ahead five minutes before half-time before Matias Ezequiel Schelotto equalised soon after the re-start.
But the visitors were back in front when Stefano Mauri notched in the 56th minute and Sergio Floccari made it 3-1 with 12 minutes remaining.
Substitute Mauro Zarate added a fourth a minute from time to cap off a wonderful afternoon for his side at the Angelo Massimino Stadium.
Juventus lost further ground on the European qualification places as they were held to a 0-0 draw at
Fiorentina, meaning they are now eight points behind Lazio.
Several good chances were created throughout the game but neither side could make any of them count as the point keeps the hosts in the top half of the table.
Winning ways
Genoa returned to winning ways at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris to do their city rivals Sampdoria a favour by defeating relegation-threatened
Brescia 3-0.
After an even first half, the hosts took their guests apart in the second 45 minutes with goals from Rafinha, Luca Antonelli and an own goal from Gaetano Berardi seeing them win comfortably.
The defeat means Brescia remain in the bottom three, four points adrift of safety, while Genoa are safe in mid-table with 42 points.
Goals by Kevin Constant and Michele Marcolini saw
Chievo overcome the sending off of Luca Rigoni as they closed to within one point of opponents
Bologna in Serie A.
Constant enjoyed an easy tap-in to put the hosts ahead after 15 minutes before Rigoni was given a straight red card for a challenge from behind on Gaston Ramirez in first-half injury time.
However, they managed to extend their lead seven minutes from time when Marcolini produced a superb lob to collect only their fifth home win of the season.
Crucial win
Down at the bottom,
Cesena climbed out of the drop zone with a crucial 1-0 win over bottom side
Bari.
Erjon Bogdani netted the only goal of the game three minutes after the restart to leapfrog Sampdoria into 17th in the standings - two points clear of their rivals with five games remaining.
Lecce sit a point ahead in 16th after notching two late goals to salvage a home draw with
Cagliari.
Robert Acquafresca notched the opener on 20 minutes before Djamel Mesbah equalised three minutes after the restart.
But Daniele Conti put Cagliari back in front on 67 minutes and Acquafresca scored his second four minutes later to put the visitors firmly in the driving seat.
But Lecce staged a late comeback with goals from Fabiano (87) and a dramatic injury-time equaliser from Daniele Corvia to earn a share of the spoils.
