Twente and Ajax seal wins

FC Twente remain three points clear of Ajax in second after they both recorded wins on Sunday. Steve McClaren's side continued their excellent campaign although they only just managed to overcome lowly ADO Den Haag at De Grolsch Veste. The only goal of the game arrived just before the half-hour mark when Blaise Nkufo pounced. Ajax made sure they remained in touching distance of Twente with a good 2-0 win at Utrecht. Goals in either half from Gregory van der Wiel and Jan Vertonghen were enough for Marco van Basten's side. Leaders AZ Alkmaar remain 12 points clear at the top of the table. Feyenoord's miserable season continued at De Kuip as they twice had to come from behind to salvage a draw with fellow mid-table outfit Vitesse Arnhem. The visitors went ahead through Nicky Hods after just 18 minutes, but Georginio Wijnaldum levelled just before the break. Vitesse again edged in front through Dalibor Stevanovic on the hour, but Roy Makaay stuck to salvage a point for the Rotterdammers. The other game of the day saw bottom of the table FC Volendam denied victory by an injury-time leveller against NEC Nijmegen. Melvin Platje's goal looked to be enough for the basement side to claim the win and three points, which would have lifted them off the foot of the table. But Milano Koenders broke the hearts of the home fans as he levelled four minutes into added time.
