Grim outlook

Michael Symes equalises for Accrington Stanley with a well-placed shot into the corner

FanZoner Hannah Cawsey thinks it's time everyone at Grimsby started pulling in the same direction.

Another week, another blog, another defeat for Grimsby

Call it stupidity, call it madness I don't know but I made the short train journey to Sheffield to watch The Mariners take on Rotherham at Don Valley. However, we got to the ground that had more empty seats than a Phil Collins gig but, luckily for us Mariners, a bar! Again a win was too much to ask for and to be honest, a decent performance was even far-fetched. Another disappointing match with awful individual performances that left most of the town fans absolutely convinced that we're going down.
The Führer's fury
It's even getting so bad that Hitler has had to intervene! This Youtube clip was taken before the Rotherham game, Angry Mariner certainly has a point: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i-mRxJYbAaw&NR=1 The clip has a point and although it's funny what is becoming increasingly depressing is the reaction from the board about fans having their say on things that displease them about the club.
An oarful state
I imagine Grimsby Town to be on a rowing boat and different aspects of the club have an oar each. The chairman, the fans, the team and the council... Each one of these aspects all row in opposite directions causing the boat to go around in circles. The only way to move forward is to get everyone rowing in the same direction before the boat eventually sinks. That's what his happening at the club, rather than being united by Grimsby Town it's causing arguments and there's definitely no sign of anything changing any time soon. For example on the official site's message board a friend once commented on the appalling state of the club's PR. Instead of this being dealt with as constructive criticism the club started a childish argument with him and it eventually led to him being banned from the message boards. It pains me to say but in comparison to Hull City and Scunthorpe United we have a brilliant set of fans and yet they're in a better position as their clubs are so well run.
A sign of the Symes
Town also put in a £100k bid for Accrington striker Michael Symes in the hope that he'd choose coming to Grimsby over going somewhere like Derby County, which is the football equivalent of asking Gerard Butler to take me on a date when he's had an offer from Jennifer Aniston! It's highly unlikely, never going to happen but at least everyone thinks there's an effort being made! Another weekend gone and another negative blog done! Up the Mariners!
