Saints boss not looking to lose midfielder

St Johnstone manager Steve Lomas insists he has no plans to cash in on in-demand midfielder Murray Davidson. Bristol City are believed to be mulling over an offer for the 23-year-old, who was the subject of a bid from Rangers last summer. Lomas has since placed a £1million price tag on Davidson and feels it would benefit his career to stay at McDiarmid Park for another year. The midfielder is contracted to the Saints until the summer of 2013 and Lomas insists it would need to be a 'very good' offer to sell.

"We don't want to lose him and he knows how highly I rate him," explained Lomas. "I would like to see Murray stay here, getting better and better. I would love to be the manager who helps him to the next stage. "'I know he wants to play at the highest level but another year here could benefit him enormously in the longer term. "'I am delighted with Murray's performances after his return from injury. He has been awesome. ''I know the club rejected a bid from Rangers before the transfer deadline and it would have to be a very good offer to move him anywhere because Murray is under contract for another year beyond next summer."
