But Freiburg remain hopeful he will stay put until the summer

Freiburg have confirmed that Papiss Demba Cisse remains intent on leaving the club, but they insist he will not be sold this season. The Senegal star came to prominence last season with 22 goals and that saw him linked with a summer move to the Premier League, with a number of clubs making enquiries. Tottenham, Sunderland, Fulham, Blackburn and Newcastle were all strongly linked, but Cisse signed a new deal with Freiburg, with the promise that he could leave at the end of the season. Cisse's excellent form has continued this term with seven goals in 11 starts, and has led to renewed speculation linking him with England. Freiburg general manager Dirk Dufner admits that Cisse will leave, but only at the end of the season. "Papiss Demba Cisse is a key player of our club. He is staying firm on his wish to move to a bigger club. This is his desire," Dufner told kicker-Sportmagazin. "The ideal for us is that he is seeing out the current campaign with our club. At this moment we have not been received any offers."
