Hassan Yebda is hoping the World Cup gives him the opportunity to secure a move away from Benfica.
The 26-year-old midfielder spent the majority of the 2009/10 campaign with Portsmouth, enduring a difficult season with the financially-crippled Premier League outfit.
Since the end of the season he has returned to Portugal, but knows he is well down the pecking order at Estadio da Luz.
He is now looking to put himself in the shop window this summer, well aware that his showings for Algeria could earn him a dream switch elsewhere.
"I hope to impress in South Africa," said the French-born ace.
"I am back at Benfica now and need to speak to the manager before making any decisions.
"When I arrived at Portsmouth we had lost the first five games. When you come in and a team has zero points it is difficult. Personally, I played every chance I got and did my best."

Yebda is hoping to make Algeria's starting XI for their World Cup opener against Slovenia on Sunday, but has already allowed his attention to drift towards a crunch clash with England on Friday.
"We are thinking positively," he said.
"Our football might be a surprise to some people.
"Maybe we will have a good game against England. Ask me after the game."
