Romanian striker completes move after five years at Fiorentina
Adrian Mutu has finally completed his move from Fiorentina to Serie A rivals Cesena.
The 32-year-old striker went close to joining Cesena in January before the move was blocked.
But the Romania international is now heading to the Stadio Dino Manuzzi after signing a two-year deal on Thursday, with the option of a third year.
"ACF Fiorentina announces that they have sold Adrian Mutu to Cesena Calcio on a permanent basis," read a statement on Fiorentina's
official website.
"The club thanks Adrian for his work over the past few seasons and wish him all the very best for the future."
Salary cut
The deal had looked set to fall through again before Mutu managed to agree personal terms.
"I accepted Cesena's proposal to reduce my salary," he said.
The former Chelsea striker had fallen out with Fiorentina bosses last season following an off-field incident and he then walked out of training when his original Cesena move did not materialise.
Mutu had spent the last five seasons with the Viola, scoring 54 goals in 112 league games.
Cesena becomes his sixth Italian club having also played for Inter Milan, Verona, Parma and Juventus.
