Crawley midfielder Simon Walton will serve a three-match ban after the club's appeal against his dismissal in Saturday's defeat at Accrington was rejected.

Walton, 28, was shown a straight red card by referee Andy Haines in Crawley's 4-1 defeat for his part in a 23-man melee which was sparked by Accrington striker Shay McCartan's late tackle on Jon Ashton.

"Simon Walton has lost his appeal against his red card at @ASFCofficial and will be banned for our next three games," Crawley said on their official Twitter site.

McCartan was sent off and Accrington's substitute goalkeeper Jason Mooney was also shown a straight red card by Haines for racing on to the pitch to join in the fracas.
