Novara have won promotion to Serie A after a 2-0 play-off win over Padova.
Padova faced an uphill battle from the minute Cesar was sent off for a professional foul on Pablo Andres Gonzalez after just 14 minutes
Gonzales made Cesar pay for the foul by curling home the resulting free-kick to break the deadlock.
Marco Rigoni added a second for Novara on 65 minutes to see off Padova.
The win means Novara, who had finished in third place in Serie B, will play in Serie A for the first time in 55 years.
Novara join Atalanta and Siena in the top flight next season.
