TOFFEEMEN MAKE POINT

NEWCASTLE finally moved out of the relegation spots of the Premiership despite surrendering a 1-0 lead to Everton.

Alan Shearer scored from the penalty spot just after half-time after Gary Speed was brought down in the area by Everton keeper Paul Gerrard.

The Merseyside team must have thought it wasn`t to be their day when David Weir hit a post but Kevin Campbell pulled The Toffeemen back into the game heading past Steve Harper after a good cross from Nick Barmby for his seventh goal of the season.

Newcastle could have won it when Kevin Gallacher hit the post late on but Bobby Robson will be relieved that his side have finally moved out of the bottom three.
