TIME FOR TAIBI TO GO

ALEX FERGUSON is about to admit he made a mistake and offload blunder keeper Massimo Taibi back to Italy but at a massive financial loss.

Taibi`s name has been circulated around Serie A to alert managers that he will be available when the Italian transfer window opens in January.

The giant Italian, who cost United £4.5 million from Venezia, has interested Piacenza but the Serie A minnows are only expected to offer a fee in the region of £1.5 million.

Taibi had an excellent reputation within Italy prior to his move to Manchester but a series of mistakes, culminating in him allowing a powder-puff effort from Southampton`s Matthew Le Tissier slip through his grasp, have seen him removed from the Reds` team.

Consequently his standing within Italian circles has fallen and Ferguson will have to accept a bid well below the £4 .5 million he paid for the Italian.
