KANU HEADING FOR CRISIS TALKS?

The newly-crowned African Footballer of the Year, expected to be paid about the same as when he was at Inter, according to a gentleman`s agreement with the Gunners. His current £25,000 a week salary would have to increase by £15,000 to bring it in-line with his Inter pay-packet.

Kanu claims Arsenal`s directors are stalling on promises made to him when he moved to London last February and the nightmare situation for Arsenal fans must be another Anelka incident.

Insiders at the club have confirmed that the club is still involved in negotiations with Kanu but the player is ready to tell Arsenal that he will train but not play for them according to the Mail`s sources.

A friend of the player was reported as saying:"Kanu believes promises were made when he signed. I have known him since he was a boy and last week he told me `I am sick of this - unless they keep their word then I am in the wrong place.`"
