NIGHTMARE START FOR NEW JAM TART

HEARTS Finnish goalkeeper Antti Niemi had a nightmare debut as his new side fell 3-0 to deadly rivals Hibernian in the Edinburgh derby at Easter Road.

The Jam Tarts new signing was beaten by long-range efforts from Dirk Lehmann and Franck Sauzee in the first half and substitute Kenny Miller put the icing on the cake with a late strike for Alex McLeish`s side.

The 27-year-old Finnish international, who was on loan at Charlton, joined the Hearts for an initial fee of around £250,000, with further payments dependent on appearances.

Niemi, who didn`t make any first team appearances while at The Valley, initially moved to Ibrox from FC Copenhagen two seasons ago, but failed to nail down a regular slot for The Gers between the sticks and was well behind Lionel Charbonnier and Stefan Klos in the pecking order.
