SVENSSON DENIES EXIT CLAIMS

CRYSTAL PALACE`S inform striker Matthias Svensson has denied reports that he wants to leave the London club despite interest from Charlton and Middlesbrough.

He said:"If the club doesn`t want to sell me I`ll stay.

The former Elfsborg player has scored seven goals in the last 11 matches for the financially strapped Eagles.

The club is currently without an owner although Ron Noades has been linked with a return to his former stamping ground. Simon Patterson, the adminstrator for the club has turned down offers from both Middlesbrough and Charlton for Svensson.

Svensson said:"It`s up to the club if they want to sell me. But there is a danger that players are forced to leave the club cheaply.

"It`s easy to understand that other clubs try to buy us cheaply when the situation is as it is."

But the loyal Swede said that if the decision was left up to him he`d stay for the duration of his contract, which would take him through till 2002.
