MATTHEWS OFF TO THE SEASIDE

ROB MATTHEWS has moved from Stockport to Blackpool on a month`s loan as The Seasiders look to strengthen their midfield and fight their way back from their current lowly position in Division Two.

Matthews has played for Notts County, Luton, York and Bury in his time and indeed was York`s record buy at the time.

The Stockport winger will go straight into the side, as David Lee has returned to Wigan and Pool intend to bring in another loan striker once Brian Quailey`s spell ends on the 3rd January.

Top scorer John Murphy is suspended as is John Hills and Blackpool had originally tried to get Stockport`s Ben Johnson on loan.

Chairman, Karl Oyston has said that the club need an experienced manager and have not got time to bed in someone inexperienced, therefore ruling out David Bardsley and Mike Davies.

There have been seven applications so far, names that have been linked include John Ward, Ray Matthias, Peter Jackson, Steve McMahon and Billy Ayre and John Beck was at Bloomfield Road on Boxing Day. The new manager is expect to be announced after the Colchester game on the 3rd January.
