KLUIVERT SCANDAL DEEPENS

THE SPANISH Football Federation, RFEF is continuing it`s investigation into the off-the-ball incident involving Barcelona`s striker Patrick Kluivert and Rayo Vallecano`s captain Jesus Cota during their league match on the 22nd of December.

Initially, Kluivert was suspected to have punched the Rayo captain, but Barca vice-president Josep Mussons defended Kluivert saying the striker was not at fault.

He said:"Cota grabbed hold of Kluivert`s testicles, who could only do one of two things: embrace him or push him away with his hand."

Mussons described Cota`s behaviour as a joke. He said:"There was no aggression nor was there a punch, yet Cota went down. It`s a joke."

The RFEF is expected to make a decision this week after investigating Cota`s part in the incident. Mallorca keeper German Burogs was suspended for 11 matches earlier this season for punching Espanyol striker Benitez, an incident picked up by television cameras but missed by the officials.
