HILL WINS IT FOR ROVERS

CLINT HILL headed the only goal of the game to give John Aldridge`s Tranmere a vital 1-0 win over Bolton in the first leg of their Worthington Cup Semi-Final.

21-year-old Hill - who was the man at the centre of the Tranmere v Sunderland FA Cup mix-up - will be delighted to have put that behind him by giving his side a vital away goal.

Tranmere deserved the victory and looked well on top in the first half.

Bolton looked more positive after the break and saw a Michael Johansen shot hit the foot of the post but Sam Allardyce`s men could not find a way past a well organised Rovers back-line.
