TRUST ME - I`M A BAGGIO
Baggio, who came on at half time with Inter trailing by a goal, showed signs of returning to the kind of form that saw him voted the world`s best in 1994 as he scored one and played impeccably in his favoured free role.
The mercurial Italian , nicknamed the Divine Ponytail, has publicly state his anger at not receiving a first team chance this year and has been linked with several high profile moves away from the San Siro - including a link with Scottish Premier League side Rangers.
However, the diminutive playmaker now appears happy to battle for a place in one of the most exciting forward lines in world football - at least for the time being.
Baggio said: "I`m very, very happy. My last goal was in the Uefa play-off against Bologna and that wasn`t nearly as important as this one.
"I just try to work hard every day in training and to do the best that I can - I have had nothing against Lippi during the last few months, he is the coach and it is job to pick the best team that he thinks he can.
"He was always fair and kept me on the bench because that is where he thought I should be. I was most angry with those people who said that I wasn`t playing through injury or bad form. I am , and I was, ready to play."
Baggio commented on the much-publicised, and sometimes stormy relationship with his manager at Inter saying: "Lippi congratulated me at the end of the match, I appreciated that! I don`t like to be the source of troubles for my club. I also want to thank my team mates who celebrated with me after the goal.
"I don`t know now if Lippi will try to make room for me on the pitch. I hope that he will have more trust in me after that game. Obviously I`d like to play more often but I will continue to work just as hard whatever happens.
One thing I can assure you - the though of retirement has never crossed my mind."
