FIVE STAR RANGERS

IT WAS business as usual in the Scottish Premier League as the sides returned from their mid-season break as Rangers ran riot against bottom club Aberdeen as they cruised to a 5-0 win.

The Gers secured the game with three goals in seven first half minutes as Craig Moore opened the scoring after 36 minutes, Giovanni Van Bronckhorst put them 2-0 ahead two minutes later and Artur Numan added a third with two minutes to go in the first period.

Rod Wallace got the fourth on the hour and Barry Ferguson made it five with eight minutes left.

Hearts stayed in sixth with a 2-0 win over Dundee, Gary Wales opened the scoring after 17 minutes and the score remained the same until five minutes after the second half when Darren Jackson secured the win.

Steve McMillan`s late goal with five minutes to go gave Motherwell a share of the spoils at St Johnstone who had led for all of the second half after a goal from Graeme Jones a minute before half-time.

In a hard fought battle Dundee United and Hibernian scrapped to a scoreless draw as Hibs missed a chance to go above Motherwell in the table.
