BEBETO LINKED WITH SHOCK MOVE

SUNDERLAND`S striker search could lead them to Brazilian World Cup superstar Bebeto, according to reports on the continent.

The former strike partner of Romario in the flair-filled attack of the 1994 World Cup winners is said to be interesting manager Peter Reid although The Wearsiders would face competition from all over the globe.

Japanese media speculation has linked the 35-year-old with a switch to Kashima Antlers as he looks for a new club after quitting Mexican side Toros-Neza.

Reid is keen for back-up to Niall Quinn and Kevin Phillips and he has been scouring the world for a new forward but Bebeto`s is the most illustrious and spectacular name mentioned to date.

Whether the Samba star could be winging his way to The Stadium of Light does rather remain to be seen but it certainly will be interesting to see Reid`s reaction to the foreign-based stories.

Meanwhile, winger Allan Johnston has completed his loan move to Bolton, as previously reported on optasoccer.com. The Rangers-target has signed for one month initially to cover the loss of Jamaican ace Ricardo Gardner.
