HORTON GETS HIS VALIANT BURTON

PORT VALE have quickly moved to strengthen their defensive corps as they signed former Sheffield United defender Sagi Burton to a two-and-a half-year deal, a couple of days after selling Anthony Gardner to Tottenham.

Burton had been on a month`s deal at Vale Park after impressing Valiants boss Brian Horton when he was on trial.

The 22-year-old Burton had been on trial at The Blades after he left Colchester for personal reasons. When Burton signed the short-term contract Horton said:"I know Sagi is a good player because I saw him a lot when I was a manager at Brighton and he was at Crystal Palace.

"I think he has tremendous potential. He is a good, strong player who works hard and I have been impressed by his attitude."

Before his move North Burton had been training again with his old team-mates at Crystal Palace but he now has the long term deal he was looking for.
